Preparing Burdock Root Tea
-
1
Cut off a 2-inch section of burdock root for each serving of tea. Peel off the tough outer bark of the root, exposing the pith. Slice the pith into thin slices (you should have about 1 tsp. full) and place in the pot.
-
2
Cover the burdock root with 6 to 8 oz. of water and bring to a boil. Boil for 10 to 15 minutes. The tea may turn blue.
-
3
Strain the tea by loosely covering the mouth of the mug with cheesecloth. Carefully pour the mixture into the mug so the liquid passes through the cheesecloth. Discard the solid burdock root matter that collects in the cheesecloth.
-
4
Start by drinking one serving once a day, gradually increasing your intake to two servings of tea per day.
