Gynecological Disorder Symptoms

Gynecological disorders include complications from bacterial or sexually transmitted infections, hormone issues and traumatic injuries. The symptoms of gynecological disorders depend on the cause of the condition and include pain, irregular periods and infertility. Women with sudden or severe pain caused by gynecological disorders should contact their doctors due to the risk of a life-threatening condition.
  1. Hirsutism

    • Hirsutism is the excessive growth of hair. In women, this can be on the face, chest and legs and may be a symptom of gynecological disorders.

    Vaginal Discharge

    • Gynecological disorders may cause abnormal vaginal discharge that may be foul smelling, yellowish or greenish, clumpy, thicker or heavier than usual or accompanied by burning, pain or a skin rash.

    Vaginal Itching

    • Itching inside or around the vagina that is persistent and accompanied by other symptoms is a sign of a gynecological disorder.

    Vaginal Bleeding

    • Unusual vaginal bleeding, including abnormally heavy periods, periods that last for more than 7 days, periods that are less than 21 days apart or more than 90 days apart, is a symptom of gynecological disorders.

    Pelvic Pain

    • Pelvic pain can be dull or sharp and may be constant or come and go; pelvic pain can be caused by disorders of any of the female reproductive organs.

    Considerations

    • Gynecological disorders can occur in females of any age including infants, children, women of childbearing age and postmenopausal women.

    Warning

    • Pelvic pain may also be caused by appendicitis, which is a life-threatening condition and requires urgent medical treatment.
