1
Pay attention to changes in your body, especially around menstrual cycles. A yeast infection may begin with itching or burning sensations in the genital area.
-
2
Watch for signs of vaginal discharge that is not typical. Women may experience some sort of discharge during the course of the month, so it is important to know what is normal and what is not. Yeast infections often prompt a discharge that is thick and lumpy.
-
3
Note any changes in odor of discharges. A vaginal yeast infection may create an unpleasant odor, but not one that is particularly foul.
-
4
Urinating may cause a burning sensation that may sting or cause skin irritation to surrounding tissues. Look at the area and watch for red, swollen or tender skin surrounding the genital area.
-
5
Pay attention to any pain experienced during intimate relations. When noticing anything different about the look or feel of skin tissues surrounding the genital area, take note and try using an anti-fungal cream as per directions on the container. If symptoms aren't relieved within a few days, schedule a visit with your physician or gynecologist.
