What Is Heterosexuality?

Heterosexuality is the romantic attraction and/or sexual attraction to people of the opposite sex. It is the most common sexual orientation, with an estimated 90-95% of the population identifying as heterosexual.

Heterosexuality is often seen as the "norm" or "default" sexual orientation, and it is often assumed that people are heterosexual unless they explicitly state otherwise. This can lead to heteronormativity, which is the belief that heterosexuality is the only natural and acceptable sexual orientation.

Heterosexual people may experience romantic and/or sexual attraction to people of the opposite sex, and they may also experience same-sex attraction to varying degrees. Some heterosexual people may identify as bisexual, pansexual, or queer, while others may simply identify as heterosexual.

There is no one "right" way to be heterosexual, and there is no requirement that heterosexual people must be in a relationship with someone of the opposite sex. Heterosexual people may choose to date, marry, or have children with someone of the opposite sex, or they may choose to remain single.

Heterosexuality is a natural and valid sexual orientation, and it should be respected and accepted just like any other sexual orientation.
