What is a wardrobe mistress?

A wardrobe mistress or wardrobe master or supervisor, also called a costumier, is the head of a wardrobe department in theatre, opera and stage productions, filmmaking and television or even in fashion shows and events. The wardrobe mistress is responsible for sourcing, maintaining, and cleaning the costumes, as well as making sure they look realistic on the actors. This may include altering the costumes, dying or cleaning the fabrics, or making sure the materials look weathered and worn.
