Fibrovan Side Effects

Endometriosis is a condition that affects women in their twenties to late forties when excess fibrin builds up on the endometrium (the wall of the uterus). This causes fibroids or fibromuscular benign tumors to form. It can be painful and can result in blood clot residue, scarring, heavy menstrual flow, and infertility. Fibrovan is a nutritional supplement that can be used to treat endometriosis.

  1. What Causes Endometriosis?

    • Excess fibrin (an insoluble protein the body produces in response to bleeding and/or inflammation) builds up on the wall of the uterus. This excess fibrin produces what is termed the 'matrix' for endometriosis. Hormonal imbalance is a contributing factor in the production of excess fibrin.

    Endometriosis Symptoms

    • Symptoms may include lower abdominal swelling, heavy menstrual flow, bleeding between periods, pelvic pressure and pain, urinary frequency and urgency, constipation, hemorrhoids, anemia, fatigue, lower back pain, infertility, and miscarriage.

    Treatment Options

    • Surgery to remove fibroids can pose risks (post-operative infection, fertility issues and the regrowth of fibroids). Medications such as low-dose birth control pills, hormone therapy, and GnRH (gonadotropin releasing hormone agonists) have side effects that may include depression, mood swings, severe menstruation, and, in some cases, ovarian cancer.

    Alternative Treatments

    • A low-fat, high fiber diet is recommended. Fibrovan, a supplement, can help dissolve clots and fibrin deposits, which the immune system then excretes as waste in the urine. Fibrovan's main ingredients are: Nattokinase (an enzyme extract from soy beans and bacillus natto, a beneficial bacteria); EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate, an antioxidant found in green tea leaves); and Lycopene (another antioxidant found in tomatoes and other red fruits and vegetables).

    Side Effects of Nattokinase

    • Fibrovan's main ingredient, Nattokinase (a clot-buster and a blood-thinner) may interact with ongoing aspirin therapy, anti-coagulant medications like Coumadin, or medical herbs that thin the blood. You may also experience heavier periods or spotting between periods while taking it. Always consult with your doctor before treating your endometriosis.
