Angina Cure
Angina is a medical condition characterized by extreme chest pain and discomfort due to inadequate blood supply reaching the heart muscles. Coronary artery disease is often considered to be one of the prime factors causing the development of angina in individuals, as it often causes obstruction of the coronary arteries and hence resulting in insufficient amount of blood reaching the heart muscles. Patients most commonly experience squeezing pain near the chest; however the pain can spread to other body parts such as shoulders, arms and the back as well. Fortunately, numerous effective treatment options are available to treat the condition.-
Medications
-
Various drugs and medications such as aspirin, nitrates and statins among others are frequently prescribed by the doctors to individuals suffering from angina. According to a Mayo Clinic study, it has been found that aspirin helps in preventing clotting of blood inside the patient's body, and hence results in easy and unobstructed flow of blood through the narrowed and damaged heart arteries and thus regulates and stabilizes the flow of blood reaching the heart muscles. On the other hand, nitrates help in relaxing and widening the blood vessels and thus aiding in increased levels of blood reaching the heart muscles and hence cure the condition of angina. Statins are drugs that are used to decrease the cholesterol and fat levels inside the patient's body. Many times cholesterol gets accumulated on the plaques of the blood vessels resulting in their narrowing and thus causing less blood to reach various organs of the body including the heart.
Surgery
-
In certain severe and rare cases, doctors often perform certain surgical procedures such as angioplasty and bypass surgery in order to reopen and widen the narrowed and obstructed heart arteries. In the angioplasty method, a small balloon is inserted into the narrowed artery. The balloon is then inflated so as to widen the artery and then a small wire or a mesh is inserted into the artery in order to keep the artery permanently open. On the other hand, in the bypass surgery method, a vein from another body part is used by the doctors to bypass the damaged artery and thus help in improving the blood flow reaching the heart muscles.
Lifestyle Changes
-
Various lifestyle changes and remedies are often recommended by the doctors to individuals suffering from angina. Some of the most commonly recommended lifestyle remedies include quitting smoking and even avoiding second hand smoke, maintaining a healthy and normal diet and following a regular exercise schedule among others.
