How to Take Provera to Induce Uteral Bleeding
Provera is a synthetic progesterone supplement prescribed to treat a variety of menstrual issues including stopped or irregular menstrual cycles. This course of therapy normalizes hormone levels to induce regular uterine bleeding. Provera is not intended as a contraceptive and does not prevent ovulation, the production of an egg. It is not intended for use by women who have impaired liver function, breast cancer or heart disease. Women who have high blood pressure, diabetes, migraines, asthma or a history of blood clots should notify their doctor before beginning Provera therapy.Instructions

Taking Provera to Start or Normalize Menstrual Cycles
-
1
See your family physician or gynecologist to obtain a prescription. The doctor will tell you which day you should begin taking the medication and for how long.
-
2
Take the prescribed amount of Provera. The first day of your treatment will be between the sixteenth and twenty-first days of your menstrual cycle.
-
3
Take the medication at the same time every day to keep hormone levels even. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is 12 hours or less before your next dose, skip the missed dose and add an extra day to your prescribed course.
-
4
Stop taking the medication when prescribed by your doctor. The prescribed course of medication should last from five to 10 days. Bleeding should begin within three to seven days of stopping the medication.
-
5
Contact your doctor if you experience any unusual or severe side effects or if you do not begin bleeding within seven days after the Provera therapy. Normal side effects include breast tenderness, spotting, stomach upset, bloating, fatigue, headache and/or dizziness.

6
Repeat the same process the following month. Provera therapy typically lasts for two menstrual cycles, although your doctor may prescribe a longer course if necessary.
