Food for Hair Loss

The same foods that are great for your body and your health are excellent for your hair. These foods are high in protein, low in carbohydrates and have a reduced fat content. What you place on your dish can help in the treatment of hair loss and in helping your hair stay healthier longer.
  1. Eating Healthy

    • The average head of hair has about 100,000 to 150,000 hairs and loses up to 100 of them a day. If you do not provide enough nutrients to your body, your hair will not receive enough care to grow and be healthy. Eating natural foods is a great source of nourishment for the hair.

Although there are numerous treatments that offer results, a variety of natural treatments provide help for anyone troubled with hair loss. The first natural lines of defense include adding fatty acids like walnuts, fish, canola oil and soy to your diet. Iron-rich foods such as broccoli or liver and foods containing vitamin B-12---eggs, meat and poultry---can also help to reverse hair loss. Eating more fruits and vegetables is important to healthy hair growth as well.

    Hair Growth Food

    • Hair-growth food remedies can be prepared at home and used to treat all types of hair loss in both men and women:

      Honey
Honey has a high nutrient value and has been widely known throughout time for treating hair loss. Apply a handful of rosemary flowers and half a pound of honey to one quart of white wine. Condense together, then add a quarter of a pint of sweet almond oil. Shake well then pour a small amount into a cup. Warm before rubbing into the scalp, then comb through until the hair is dry. Repeat daily.

      Garlic
Due to its antibacterial quality and antioxidants, garlic can provide the scalp and follicles with the proper amount of vitamins and nutrients needed to grow hair. Slice garlic and massage it into your scalp to the critical spots or where you notice hair loss. This will increase the circulation, binding the hair growth.

      Almond
Almond oil has a spectacular effect on the scalp. Massage a few drops into your follicles or skin at least two or three times a day for a few months. The application will be enough to stop the damage and boost hair growth.

      Pumpkin
Pumpkin-seed oil is known to affect the DHT level, a type of testosterone that stunts hair growth. The oil can be obtained at any natural or herbal remedy store, and instructions should be followed for dosage.

There are no guarantees that food solutions will work for you or your hair-loss problem. Consultation with a skilled specialist to discuss your options is also recommended.
