Tips on Hair-Loss Scalp Treatments
While hair loss is an embarrassing medical condition, the condition is rarely serious. Finding the best treatment regimen for hair loss is often a process of trial, evaluation and error. Hair loss can easily be treated and reversed by following a series of inexpensive home remedies as compared with expensive surgical remedies for hair loss. Home remedies for hair loss offer many advantages including being minimally invasive, more affordable, and less risky to the overall health of the patient.-
DHT Inhibitor
-
Overproduction of the hormone DHT, which is a potent form of the hormone testosterone, causes hair loss. Use a shampoo or topical DHT inhibitor such as Propecia, Rogaine or an oral DHT inhibitor such as saw palmetto. Use at least 320 milligrams daily of saw palmetto taken orally to block the production of DHT in the scalp. When you are using oral supplements and medication for hair loss, you may need to take them with food if you have a sensitive stomach.
Medicated Shampoo
-
Use an alternating regimen of shampoos containing coal tar, zinc and salicylic acid. Alternate between each shampoo. The shampoos can also be alternated if you shampoo your hair multiple times daily. Coal tar and zinc work by removing excess sebum from the hair shaft and the scalp. Salicylic acid works by removing flaky skin and dried sebum from the scalp. Massage the shampoo into the scalp using large circular motions. This helps the shampoo to penetrate the scalp. Massaging the shampoo into the scalp helps improve blood flow into the scalp. Retain the shampoo for five minutes for the maximum effect. Rinse the shampoo with lukewarm water from the nape of the neck forward in order to allow the active ingredients of the shampoo to remain in the scalp after rinsing.
Vinegar Conditioner
-
Use a solution of 50 percent vinegar and 50 percent tap water. Massage the solution into the scalp after each shampoo. Use large circular motions to massage the vinegar and water solution into the scalp and through each hair follicle. Vinegar works to balance the pH level of the scalp while the massaging action works to stimulate hair growth by improving blood flow to the scalp. Vinegar conditioner also adds shine and body to the hair follicle.
