How to Trim Your Nails
Step 1: Gather your tools.- Nail clippers
- Emery board
- Orange stick or cuticle pusher
- Nail brush
Step 2: Trim your nails.
- Start by trimming your fingernails straight across.
- Trim your toenails on a slight curve, following the natural shape of your nail bed.
- Don't trim your nails too short, as this can lead to ingrown nails.
Step 3: File your nails.
- Use an emery board to file your nails into the desired shape.
- File your nails in one direction only, and avoid sawing back and forth.
- Be careful not to over-file your nails, as this can make them weak.
Step 4: Push back your cuticles.
- Use an orange stick or cuticle pusher to gently push back your cuticles.
- Don't cut or trim your cuticles, as this can damage them.
Step 5: Brush your nails.
Use a nail brush to remove any dirt or debris from your nails.
Step 6: Apply cuticle oil.
- Massage cuticle oil into your nails and cuticles to help keep them hydrated and healthy.
Step 7: Repeat as needed.
- Trim and file your nails every week or two, as needed.
