Is it possible for my hair to split in a different place?

Split hair, also known as split ends, occurs when the end of a hair shaft separates into two or more branches. When hair splits, the weakest point along the hair shaft is affected, and this point typically remains the weakest point over time. As a result, split ends tend to occur at the same locations and do not typically split in different places or move along the hair shaft. Additionally, once split hair is formed, it cannot repair itself and requires trimming or cutting to remove the damaged ends.
