Sjogren's syndrome is an autoimmune disorder, which means the immune system of the human body fights against the healthy cells within the body, according to the National Institute of Arthritis & Musculoskeletal & Skin Disease (NIAMS) .-
Symptoms

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics website states that Sjogren's syndrome mainly affects women between 40 and 65. The main symptoms of the condition include dry eyes, dry mouth, fatigue and hair loss.
Alopecia

The Merck Manuals website explains that the hair loss condition alopecia areata has been linked to Sjogren's syndrome. Alopecia areata is a condition in which the hair follicles on the body are attacked by the body's immune system, resulting in hair loss.
Other Conditions

NIAMS reports that Sjogren's syndrome is often found in people with other autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Both of these conditions are also linked to the onset of alopecia areata as a symptom.
