1
Change your medications. People respond directly to medications, and certain drugs such as birth control pills and immunosuppressant drugs to stop chronic inflammation can cause hair loss. Speak with your doctor if hair loss begins after taking a new medication. Finding an alternative drug or lowering the dosage can reverse your condition.

2
Deep-condition hair. Shampooing hair isn't always enough to promote strength and growth. Apply a protein-rich hair conditioner after each shampoo, and once a month, visit a hair care professional for a deep conditioner. Conditioners help repair hair damage and strengthen the hair shaft.

3
Take a multivitamin. Daily supplements give your body the nutrients and minerals necessary to maintain your overall health and strengthen your hair. Look for supplements with B-complex vitamins, beta-carotene, folate acid and flaxseed oil.

4
Back off the chemicals. Hair dyes and chemical relaxers can damage weak hair and cause further problems and thinning. Give your locks a rest and stay away from harsh products until your hair regains it's strength.

5
Lower the heat. Avoid heat styling until your hair condition improves. Towel or air dry hair after shampooing, and select styles that do not require a curling iron. If you must use heat, put the dryer or curling iron on the lowest setting to avoid hair damage.
