Home Remedies to Help Hair Growth

Like all mammals, humans have hair that grows all over our bodies, mostly on our heads. Everyone has a favorite hairstyle that they like best on themselves, but sometimes hair can be difficult to grow because its unhealthy. Hair loss is also caused by genetics or other factors. Whether you are trying to grow your hair long or simply stop it from falling out, there are many home remedies to assist you.
  1. Drink Plenty of Water

    • When the body is dehydrated, hair can look dull and become weak, causing it to break off and fall out easily. Hydrating yourself with at least 2 to 3 liters of water a day helps your body run smoothly. Drinking plenty of water is one of the simplest and cheapest home remedies to help hair grow.

    Vitamin Supplements

    • There are several vitamins and minerals that promote hair growth, including folic acid, vitamin B, beta carotene, and zinc. Many people don't get enough of these nutrients in their regular diet, so vitamin supplements can be used to replenish the body. Most multivitamins contain all of these essential vitamins and minerals, and taking them as directed on the bottle or by your doctor will help your hair grow faster and stronger, as well as make your body healthier in general.

    Consume Enough Protein

    • Hair is made of protein. If you don't consume enough protein in your diet, your hair will suffer since your body will stop or slow hair production to save the protein supply for more important functions, like cell production. Eating a protein-rich diet with lots of beans, nuts, fish, and dairy products will ensure healthy, beautiful hair.

    Oils

    • Sometimes consuming the right nutrients isn't enough to promote hair growth. When this is the case, essential oils can be applied. Some of the more common oils used are coconut oil, jojoba oil, rosemary oil, and olive oil. Massage one or more of these oils onto the scalp two to three times a week and leave it on for 15 minutes before washing your hair. This treatment not only promotes hair growth, but has been shown to prevent future hair loss as well.
