Home Remedies for Scalp Treatment
Home remedies are simply natural alternatives to conventional medicine, conveniently made from ingredients commonly found in most homes. Many home remedies have been aorund for years, passed down from one generation to the next. Home remedies use the natural properties of common household items, rather than the chemicals found in many commercial products.-
Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a skin disorder which affects different parts of the body, including the scalp. This disorder may either be chronic or mild, and is usually caused by environmental or genetic factors. Other factors which may cause or exacerbate psoriasis include hormonal changes, smoking, stress, and alcohol consumption. Home remedies for treating psoriasis include the use of vinegar. Vinegar, especially apple cider vinegar, has disinfectant properties and can be used to soothe skin inflammations such as psoriasis. Add I cup of apple cider vinegar to 1 gallon of water, soak a washcloth in the liquid, squeeze out the excess water and place the washcloth on the affected area.
Dry Scalp

A dry scalp causes excessive flakiness of the scalp as accumulated dead skin cells are continually shed. This condition can lead to an increased chance of hair loss and could be a result of harsh shampoos or other hair products, allergies, diet, pollution, medication, and using hard water. A dry scalp is an indication that the scalp is not producing enough oils to keep it moisturized and can be alleviated by using natural oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, and jojoba oil to treat the scalp. Apply half a cup of any of these oils to your scalp, massage it in completely and cover with a plastic cap for about 30 minutes. Wash the hair, massage about 1 tbsp. of any of the oils to your scalp, then style as usual.
Itchy Scalp

An itchy scalp can be very embarrassing because it causes sufferers to constantly scratch or fight the urge to scratch their scalp. Many conditions can lead to an itchy scalp. They include contact and allergic dermatitis, head lice, psoriasis, and dandruff. The first step to avoiding an itchy scalp is to maintain good hygiene. Wash the hair regularly, and avoid sharing combs with people to prevent the transfer of head lice. Tea oil and aloe vera gel have soothing properties that can help stop scalps from itching. Simply pour a little into your palm and massage into your hair.
Ringworm

Ringworm is a fungal infection which affects the scalp and other parts of the body, including the nails and skin. The condition is called ringworm because it causes a red ring to appear on the body of the infected person. Unlike psoriasis, ringworm is highly contagious and can spread by contact. A home remedy for ringworms is to make a paste out of mustard seeds and apply it over the affected area. Rubbing slices of raw papaya on the affected site can also help.
