Sinus and Migraine Common Symptoms

Both sinus headaches and migraine headaches can be caused by an inflammation of the sinuses, known as sinusitis. Although sinus headaches are not as severe as migraines, both can be disabling and disrupt your normal daily activities. According to the Mayo Clinic and the National Library of Medicine, symptoms of both sinus headaches and migraines include pain and fatigue.
  1. Congestion

    • You may experience congestion and pressure in your nose and sinuses as a symptom of both sinus and migraine headaches.

    Pressure

    • You may feel intense pressure inside your head during sinus or migraine headaches, and the pressure may get worse when you put your head down or bend forward.

    Runny Nose

    • Sinus and migraine headaches can cause a runny nose, with mucus that is clear and thin.

    Facial Pain

    • Pain along the sides of your nose, the upper parts of your cheeks and in your temples are symptoms of migraine and sinus headaches.

    Tinnitus

    • Pain or a feeling of pressure inside your ears is a symptom of sinus and migraine headaches that may cause you to hear ringing in your ears, a condition called tinnitus.

    Fatigue

    • Fatigue and extreme tiredness are symptoms of sinus and migraine headaches and are part of your body's coping mechanism to help you rest and get rid of the headache.
