Reduce Stress. Stressful environments are the most common trigger for most types of headaches. Stress can release certain hormones that can affect the way you experience pain. Muscle tension, teeth grinding, and stiff shoulders are other responses to stress that can increase the chances of having a headache. So, chill out and take a deep breathe!
If you suddenly feel too overwhelmed by things, take a deep breathe and go outside for fresh air and to clear your mind. Start to track what sets off your stress and try your best to prevent it.

Change your diet. There are a lot of nutritional triggers for headaches, especially foods high in caffeine, sugar, carbs and sodium. These foods cause your blood sugar to jump back and forth causing fatigue in your body.

Calling all Women: Increased Estrogen Levels. This is a very common cause for headaches in many women. If you are using an oral contraceptive, you might be getting too much estrogen. Talk to your doctor about this and see about switching to a different medication.

Drink water and stay hydrated. A common cause for tension headaches leads back to lack of hydration in the body. Drinking more water when you start to feel a little down and rejunvinate your body and make you feel 100% better in no time.

Quit Smoking. Nicotine and other chemicals in cigarette smoke can trigger and aggravate headache symptoms. If you are a smoker, explore options for quitting. Not only will this reduce the likelihood of developing headaches, it will also improve other areas of your health.
