• Vascular headaches include migraines, toxic headaches, cluster headaches and headaches that are the result of a rise in blood pressure.

Common Migraine Symptoms

• These include severe pain that can be on one side or both sides of the head, sensitivity to light, visual disturbances, and nausea and vomiting. More severe symptoms may be present, depending on whether you have common or classic migraines.

Other Symptoms

• Other types of migraines include headache-free, status, exertional, hemiplegic and ophthalmoplegic. With these types, you may experience eye pain, vertigo, paralysis on one side of the body, constipation or diarrhea.

Toxic Headache Symptoms

• This type of headache often comes with a fever and is secondary to another medical condition such as measles, mumps, infections or pneumonia.

Treatment

• Try using cold compresses around the eyes or on painful areas, resting in a dark and quiet room, learning what foods trigger your symptoms, getting adequate sleep and learning a stress management technique such as meditation.
