      Wear the cardiac event monitor. Follow the instructions in the instruction manual that accompanies the instrument. The cardiac event monitor is worn as a wristwatch or kept in the purse or pocket and attached to your chest with cords or electrodes.

      Push the start button on the front of the instrument to start the scan of your heart as soon as you feel dizzy, weak or your heart beating quickly. The instrument will make a beeping sound. The sound will stop when the scan is over.

      Call the toll-free number printed on the instrument, which connects to a technician. Tell him that transmission of the recording is about to begin. The technician will ask for details about the abnormal symptoms you felt. Then unplug the cord from the monitor, place the mouthpiece of the telephone on the monitor and press the "Event" button to send the recording.

      Wait for the transmission to finish. The instrument will beep until all of the records are transmitted. Pick up the telephone receiver and wait for further instructions from the technician. If the transmission was faulty, you may have to send it again.

      Reset the instrument when the transmission is completed by using the pointed ends of the cord to depress the reset button.
