Gastrointestinal Side Effects

Some people may experience constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and gas. However, none of these side effects is cause for concern.
Neurological Side Effects

Headaches, lightheadedness and drowsiness are all side effects of taking Metoprolol Succinate, but they are not considered serious. Other neurological side effects may indicate a potential complication that requires treatment. Notify your doctor if you notice hallucinations, mood changes--including depression or confusion--severe dizziness, lightheadedness or vision changes.
Other Serious Side Effects

Other side effects that may indicate a problem include fainting, unusually cold or blue hands and feet, swelling in the arms, legs and feet, shortness of breath, wheezing and jaundice. These side effects should be reported to your doctor immediately.
Other Non-Serious Side Effects

Other known side effects of Metoprolol Succinate that are not serious include a dry mouth or eyes, headaches, difficulty sleeping, unexplained weakness or tiredness and heartburn.
