What happens when the ventricles of your contract?
When the ventricles of your heart contract, they pump oxygen-rich blood out of your heart and into your body. The right ventricle pumps blood to your lungs, and the left ventricle pumps blood to the rest of your body.
The contraction of the ventricles is triggered by an electrical signal from your heart's sinoatrial (SA) node, which is located in the right atrium. The SA node is the natural pacemaker of your heart, and it sets the rate and rhythm of your heartbeat.
When the electrical signal from the SA node reaches the ventricles, it causes the ventricular muscle cells to contract. This contraction squeezes the blood out of the ventricles and into the arteries.
The contraction of the ventricles is a very important part of the cardiac cycle, as it is what pumps blood out of your heart and into your body. Without ventricular contraction, your body would not receive the oxygen-rich blood it needs to function properly.
