What are the differences between left and right side of human heart?

Left Side of the Heart

* Receives oxygenated blood from the lungs

* Pumps oxygenated blood to the rest of the body

* Has two chambers: the left atrium and the left ventricle

* Left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs

* Left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to the rest of the body

Right Side of the Heart

* Receives deoxygenated blood from the body

* Pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs

* Has two chambers: the right atrium and the right ventricle

* Right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the body

* Right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs

Other Differences

* The left side of the heart is thicker and more muscular than the right side. This is because the left side has to pump blood to the rest of the body, while the right side only has to pump blood to the lungs.

* The left side of the heart has a higher pressure than the right side. This is because the left side has to pump blood against the resistance of the blood vessels, while the right side only has to pump blood against the resistance of the lungs.
