Physical Symptoms of Heart Disease
Heart disease refers to diseases that impact the normal operations of the heart or the blood vessels of the heart. More people die of heart disease than any other cause in the world.-
Types of Heart Disease
-
There are several different conditions that are categorized under heart or cardiovascular disease. These include blockage of the arteries, abnormal heartbeats, heart defects and heart infections.
Chest Pain
-
Chest pain is classic symptom of heart disease, and is usually pressure or a squeezing of the chest. Chest pain can also be caused by other illnesses, and misdiagnosed as heart disease.
Shortness of Breath
-
Since heart disease reduces the flow of blood through the body, it can lead to shortness of breath, or panting. This symptom may precede the chest pain.
Stomach Pain
-
If the chest pain is intense enough, it may radiate outward to other parts of the body, including the stomach. This pain is sometimes caused by heartburn, or acid indigestion, and is not necessarily indicative of heart disease.
Symptoms In Females
-
According to the Mayo Clinic, the symptoms of heart disease in women can differ from men. Women are more likely to have a heart attack without experiencing chest pain, but have other traditional symptoms like shortness of breath, abdominal pain, fatigue, lightheadedness and sweating.
