How to Cure Heartburn in Children
If your child is showing symptoms that he or she is suffering from heartburn, make an appointment with their pediatrician. You child may be complaining of abdominal pain, particularly in the upper abdomen. The doctor will be able to identify whether it is heartburn. If so, the doctor will most likely prescribe some lifestyle and diet changes first. If the changes do not relieve your child's symptoms, the doctor will prescribe such medication as antacids and histamine blockers. Try making these simple lifestyle and diet changes first as they just might cure your child's heartburn.Things You'll Need

1
Watch your child's weight. Give your child small portions of healthy and natural foods. Cut junk food, pizza, caffeine and soda out of your child's diet. Water and low-fat milk are the best drinks for you child. Fruit juices that are high in acid, such as citrus juices, can aggravate the problem. Pineapple juice, however, can soothe an upset stomach. Bananas, watermelon and cucumbers also are recommended for a mild diet.

Feed your child an hour or more before bedtime.

3
Dress your child in loose clothing. Tight clothing puts pressure on the stomach and can cause heartburn.

4
Make sure your child is exercising at least one hour every day. Exercise will help control your child's weight. Go for walks or bike rides with them, or play such sports as soccer or basketball. Try to make the exercise fun so it does not seem like a chore.
