Quick Remedy for Heartburn

Heartburn is a condition in which acid and food from the stomach come up into the esophagus. It can be extremely painful, causing a burning sensation from the chest to the throat. If heartburn is left untreated for too long, it can lead to erosion of the esophagus and other complications. Try to treat your heartburn immediately after it starts or prevent it with proper diet and/or preventive medications. Below are some remedies you can try at home to treat and prevent heartburn.
  1. Antacid Tablets

    • Over-the-counter antacid tablets are one option for fighting heartburn. You may need to try a few different types of tablets before you find one that is both fast-acting and keeps heartburn from coming back every few hours. Always read the directions very carefully and use the tablets only as they are meant to be used.

    Apple Cider Vinegar

    • Apple cider vinegar can relieve heartburn pain fast because of its ability to balance the pH of the stomach, reducing acidity. Many people find the taste of plain vinegar rather unpleasant, but fortunately, it is not necessary to drink much of it. Mix one teaspoon of vinegar with half a cup of water and drink.

    Pickle Juice

    • Dill pickle juice is another fast remedy for heartburn and acid reflux. When heartburn strikes, try taking a few sips of pickle juice. Like apple cider vinegar, the juice should help balance the pH in the stomach, calming acid reflux. If heartburn comes back after a while, try drinking a little more.

    Barley Grass

    • When heartburn is getting the best of you, try drinking a barley grass mixture. Barley grass, chlorella and wheat grass can all help with heartburn pain. Since these drinks are healthy anyway, it may serve you well to drink some on a daily basis in order to prevent heartburn from occurring.

    Baking Soda

    • Baking soda is a quick and effective remedy for heartburn. Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a glass of water and drink. The baking soda will help neutralize acid in the stomach and stop acid reflux. Be careful not to use this remedy too often, however, because baking soda is very high in sodium.
