How to Neutralize Stomach PH With Baking Soda

Baking soda alleviates the symptoms of acid reflux but not the cause. Acid reflux, commonly referred to as heartburn, occurs when digestive acid escapes through the lower esophageal sphincter. Although causes vary, common triggers include acidic foods, a weakened lower esophageal sphincter and improper diet. Baking soda, an alkaline, neutralizes stomach pH by reacting with digestive acid, effectively lowering its pH level. However, always consult your physician prior to taking any home medication.
