Notice any faintness or lightheadedness. A person who is suffering from heat exhaustion is likely to feel dizzy or faint.

Take the person's temperature. If you suspect that you have heat exhaustion, then your temperature should be monitored. A person with heat exhaustion may have a fever present.

Check the appearance of the victim. The most visible sign of heat exhaustion is a change in appearance. An affected person may look pale, ashen or be covered in a large amount of sweat.

Get a blood pressure reading. Low blood pressure is another indication of heat exhaustion.

Seek out medical attention. If the person does not improve after moving out of the sun and being given fluids, call emergency personnel. They can let you know if the victim is suffering from heat exhaustion.
