Get out of the sun immediately if you start getting symptoms of heat exhaustion or get someone into shade quickly if the person can't get there themselves.

Add 1 tsp. of apple cider to a small glass of water. Mix it up and drink it all. Apple cider has many health benefits including curing heat exhaustion.

Drink Gatorade or Pedialyte. These beverages have electrolytes that replace the sodium and potassium that the body loses through the sweat glands.

Replace the potassium that your body needs by eating a banana if you don't have Gatorade available.

Drink some cold herbal tea such as raspberry or peppermint tea. These teas will produce a natural cooling effect to your body.

Put some cool water on a towel and place it on the back of your neck or on the fronts of both of your wrists. Cooling down these areas will cool down your system more quickly. You can also take a cool (not cold) bath or shower.
