Blood transfusion size and location of IV?

Blood transfusion size

The size of a blood transfusion depends on the patient's blood volume and the severity of the anemia. In general, a transfusion of 1 unit of packed red blood cells (RBCs) will increase the hemoglobin level by 1 g/dL. For adults, a typical transfusion dose is 2-4 units of RBCs. For children, the dose is typically 10-15 mL/kg of body weight.

Location of IV

A blood transfusion is typically administered through a large vein in the arm, such as the basilic or cephalic vein. In some cases, a central venous catheter may be used, especially if the patient is receiving multiple transfusions or if the peripheral veins are difficult to access.
