Why would a IVC Filter be placed to treat Subdural hematoma?

IVC (inferior vena cava) filters are not typically used to treat subdural hematomas. Subdural hematomas are collections of blood that develop between the brain and the dura mater, which is the outermost layer of the brain's protective covering. IVC filters are devices that are placed in the inferior vena cava, a large vein that carries blood from the lower body to the heart. They are used to prevent blood clots from traveling to the lungs, a condition known as pulmonary embolism.
