Identify blood vessel that conducts to the head?
Carotid arteries
The carotid artery is a major blood vessel that conducts oxygenated blood to the head, neck, and brain. There are two carotid arteries, one on each side of the neck. The common carotid artery begins at the base of the aorta, the main artery that carries blood away from the heart. The common carotid artery then divides into the internal carotid artery and the external carotid artery.
The internal carotid artery supplies oxygenated blood to the brain. It enters the skull through a hole in the base of the skull called the carotid canal. The internal carotid artery then branches into several smaller arteries that supply blood to the different parts of the brain.
The external carotid artery supplies oxygenated blood to the face, neck, and scalp. It branches into several smaller arteries that supply blood to the different parts of the face, neck, and scalp.
