What is the medical term meaning bleeding out?

The medical term for "bleeding out," when someone loses enough blood to result in a severe drop in blood pressure and oxygen supply to the brain, causing loss of consciousness and potentially death, is "hemorrhage." Hemorrhaging can occur as a result of trauma, damage to blood vessels from disease or injury, or abnormal bleeding conditions. Depending on the location of the bleeding, it may be referred to as either "internal bleeding" when internal blood vessels are damaged, or "external bleeding" when blood escapes the body through a wound.
