What is type 2 hepatitis stage 2?
Type 2 hepatitis, also known as hepatitis C, is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It is a bloodborne virus that can be transmitted through contact with infected blood.
Stage 2 of hepatitis C is characterized by moderate liver damage. This can cause a range of symptoms, including:
* Fatigue
* Weakness
* Nausea
* Vomiting
* Abdominal pain
* Dark urine
* Light-colored stools
* Joint pain
* Muscle pain
* Fever
* Itchy skin
* Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
In some cases, stage 2 hepatitis C can progress to more severe liver damage, including cirrhosis and liver failure. Cirrhosis is a condition in which the liver is scarred and damaged. Liver failure is a condition in which the liver is no longer able to function properly. Both cirrhosis and liver failure can be life-threatening.
Treatment for hepatitis C is available and can help to slow or stop the progression of liver disease. Treatment typically involves antiviral medications. The type of antiviral medication used will depend on the genotype of HCV that you have. Treatment is usually given for 12 to 24 weeks.
