Does hepatitis c turn into aids?

Hepatitis C and AIDS are two separate diseases caused by different viruses. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) affects the liver, while the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) attacks the body's immune system. Although both diseases can be serious, they are not the same and do not turn into each other.

However, people with HIV are at an increased risk of developing hepatitis C infection because they have a weakened immune system. Conversely, people with hepatitis C are also more likely to get HIV because their immune systems are already compromised.

Therefore, it is important for people with either hepatitis C or HIV to take precautions to protect themselves from acquiring the other virus. These precautions can include practising safe sex, avoiding contaminated needles, and getting vaccinated against hepatitis B.
