Is it bad to get herpes at 12 years old?
Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that causes genital herpes. It is spread through vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who is infected. HSV-2 can also be spread from an infected mother to her newborn baby during childbirth.
Both HSV-1 and HSV-2 can cause recurrent outbreaks of sores or blisters. These outbreaks can be triggered by stress, illness, or exposure to sunlight. There is no cure for HSV, but there are treatments that can help to reduce the symptoms and prevent outbreaks.
It is important to see a doctor if you think you may have herpes. Early diagnosis and treatment can help to reduce the risk of complications.
