How long after being exposed to herpes do women have an outbreak?
There are two types of herpes simplex virus (HSV): HSV-1 and HSV-2. HSV-1 usually causes oral herpes, while HSV-2 usually causes genital herpes.
The incubation period for herpes simplex virus (HSV) varies from 2 to 12 days, with an average of 4 days. This means that it can take anywhere from 2 to 12 days for symptoms to appear after exposure to the virus.
The first outbreak of genital herpes is typically the most severe and can last for 2 to 4 weeks. Recurrent outbreaks are usually less severe and last for a shorter period of time. Some people with genital herpes never experience any outbreaks, while others may have outbreaks as often as several times a year.
There is no cure for herpes, but there are treatments that can help to reduce the symptoms and prevent the spread of the virus.
