Can you get shingles or chickenpox from your daughter?
It is not likely for a daughter to pass either shingles or chickenpox to a mother. However, it is possible for children to carry the varicella-zoster virus, which causes both diseases, and pass the virus to people who have not had chickenpox or been vaccinated against it. This is most common in people with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly or those taking certain medications.
However, it is important to note that shingles cannot be passed directly from person to person. Shingles is a reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus that causes chickenpox. People who have had chickenpox can develop shingles later in life, but they cannot pass the virus to someone who has not already been exposed to it.
