How to Get Rid of Shingle Scars
Shingles is a painful rash, caused by the Herpes zoster virus. A shingles rash can occur anywhere on the body and may result in very serious complications. While antiviral medications lessen the symptoms of shingles, the virus stays in the body. Shingles rashes often have open sores that leave disfiguring scars. Although the exact healing mechanism is not verified, applying self-adhesive sheets of silicone gel to the affected area have proven effective in diminishing scars caused by shingles. Used correctly, silicone gel sheets can soften the scar so it visually blends with surrounding tissue.Things You'll Need

1
Clean the scarred area to remove sweat, dirt, lotions, etc. Dry thoroughly. Apply the silicone gel sheet, as directed by the manufacturer. For best results, this should be done as early as possible after the shingles lesions begin to heal. The silicone sheets may be worn for several days, until they start to come off by themselves.

2
Remove the silicone gel sheet. Wash the affected ares with an exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin. Dry thoroughly and apply another sheet of silicone gel. This step may have to be repeated many times to achieve the desired result.
