How to Stop Taking Micardis
Micardis is a prescription medication from the drug category called angiotensin II. It is administered orally in tablet form and is used primarily for controlling hypertension (high blood pressure). Approved by the FDA in 1998, Micardis is one of the most highly recommended treatments for hypertension, and the side effects are typically relatively mild. If you are experiencing muscle pain, weakness, fatigue or any other symptom that you believe is related to taking Micardis, talk to your doctor about alternative treatments.Things You'll Need

The Steps
-
1
Talk with your physician about your desire to stop taking Micardis.
-
2
Make a list to share with your doctor of all the symptoms you've been having that you believe are associated with your use of Micardis. In order to be sure, the doctor must know what other drugs you are taking (even over-the-counter ones) and what other conditions you currently have.
-
3
If your doctor recommends switching you to another hypertension medication, a phase-out of Micardis may be necessary (taking a lesser dose over a period of time). Do not simply stop taking your medicine; to avoid a potentially life-threatening spike in blood pressure you must first discuss this with your doctor.
-
4
Ask your doctor about alternative medications for the treatment of high blood pressure, including ACE inhibitors and the drug Lisinopril.
