Vytorin & Its Effects on the Brain

Vytorin is one of the more recent drugs developed to tackle cholesterol issues. While still new in the world of drugs, there have yet to be any notable effects on the brain reported. Given that it is a combination of two drugs, Vytorin is expected to be among the most effective drugs in terms of fighting high cholesterol.
  1. History

    • Vytorin is relatively new and is still going through trials. One of its most recent trials went on for 2 years and is known as the ENHANCE study. While there are no known critical effects on the brain as of yet, Vytorin still needs a few more years of study.

    Effects

    • Vytorin is a combination of two different drugs. One drug fights cholesterol by controlling how much is absorbed in the intestine while the other reduces the amount that goes from the intestine to the liver. Both drugs and what each affects do not have a direct relationship with the brain or its functioning.

    Side Effects

    • Persistent headaches are a known side effect. The reason for this is due to your blood flow being constricted by the Vytorin. If the headache gets to be too uncomfortable, a physician should be consulted. Other side effects include muscle ailments, such as myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.

    Identification

    • The pills themselves are usually white and have a number imprint on them. The number is usually between 311 and 315.

    Considerations

    • Taking medication is not the only way to treat problems with cholesterol. Dieting and regular exercise can also help. People who are considering taking Vytorin will have to consult a physician first as it is a prescription medication.
