The amount of sodium we have in our bodies is high only when we do not get a necessary amount of potassium. Your should have at least 5 times as much calcium that sodium daily in your diets. Most Americans have 2 times more sodium in their diets. This is the reason for the high incidence of high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity (sodium cuases your body to retain water) and many other diseases. A diet rich in fruit and vegetables can easily produce a ratio of 100:1 potassium to calcium because all fruit and vegetables have a ratio of at least 50:1.
