Why must blood from the patients vein be pressurised?

To ensure an adequate flow rate through the dialysis membrane, the blood from the patient's vein must be pressurized. The pressure is necessary to overcome the resistance of the membrane and allow the blood to pass through it efficiently. The pressure is usually maintained between 100 and 200 mmHg, depending on the patient's condition and the type of dialysis being performed.
