Fatigue and Breathing Problems

Fatigue is usually the first symptom experienced by patients, according to the American Heart Association. Often patients do not realize that primary pulmonary hypertension is the cause of their fatigue. Instead many feel that they are just out of shape.
As this condition gets worse, patients will experience difficulty breathing. Patients with breathing problems may also experience fainting spells and dizziness, according to the American Heart Association. These symptoms can occur even with minimal exertion.
Swelling and Discoloration

Patients with primary pulmonary hypertension can experience swelling, according to the Cleveland Clinic. This swelling most often affects the ankles, legs, and abdomen. Bluish colored skin and lips may also occur when oxygen is decreased.
Chest Pain and Other Symptoms

Patients with this condition can experience chest pain, according to the Cleveland Clinic. This symptom occurs when there is an increase in strain on the heart. The severity of this symptom is totally dependent on the individual.
There are other symptoms of primary pulmonary hypertension that patients may experience. These symptoms usually occur in the more advanced stages of this condition. These can include irregular heart beat, progressive breathing troubles with or without activity, racing pulse, shortness of breath that gets worse over time, dizziness, heart palpitations, and passing out.
