Inhibace Side Effects
Inhibace is a brand name for the medication cilazapril, used to reduce high blood pressure and treat congestive heart failure. Inhibace is available in countries such as Canada and New Zealand. Many side effects are possible.-
Function
-
Inhibace is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that allows blood vessels to relax and widen. This reduces blood pressure and increases the flow of blood and oxygen to the heart.
Common Side Effects
-
Dizziness is a common side effect with Inhibace and usually is temporary until the patient's body adjusts to the medicine. Other side effects may include dry cough, headache, constipation or diarrhea, altered taste sensation, nausea, fatigue and increased sensitivity to sunlight.
Low Blood Pressure
-
Inhibace may cause low blood pressure, with symptoms of dizziness, lightheadedness and even fainting. This is more likely in people who are losing fluid through diuretic use, kidney dialysis, diarrhea or vomiting, or excessive sweating.
Pregnancy Warning
-
Pregnant women must not take Inhibace because the drug can cause severe birth defects or even death to the developing baby.
Allergic Reaction
-
Rarely, people can have a serious allergic reaction to Inhibace. Signs are difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, hoarseness, and swelling of the face, mouth, hands or feet.
Other Serious Effects
-
Other uncommon side effects include liver or kidney problems, decrease in white blood cells that fight infection, and high potassium blood levels.
