Lisinopril Effects
Lisinopril is a medication available by prescription only and used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Lisinopril is also used directly following a heart attack, and has been shown to improve chances of survival for heart attack victims. As with all mediciations, there are side effects that can occur when taking Lisinopril.-
Dosage

It is important that you take Lisinopril exactly as it is prescribed. Do not skip or miss a dose of Lisinopril. If you forget to take a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If you are within four hours of your next dose of Lisinopril, only take the scheduled dose. It is important that you take Lisinopril with a full glass of water. You may take Lisinopril with or without a meal. Never double up on your dose of Lisinopril, as this may cause an overdose. Symptoms of overdose include fainting, extreme dizziness or feeling lightheaded. Seek emergency medical attention if you experience symptoms of Lisinopril overdose.
Mild/Moderate Effects

Some effects of Lisionpril are considered mild to moderate and do not require emergency medical treatment. It is still important that you share any experiences of side effects with your doctor, as your medication may need to be adjusted. Tell your doctor if you have experienced nausea or vomiting; stomach upset or diarrhea; mild headache; or have been feeling dizzy or drowsy. Lisinopril may also cause symptoms of cough as well as an itchy, persistent rash.
Severe Side Effects

Some effects of Lisinopril can be serious and require immediate medical attention. Seek emergency care if you experience lightheadedness or feeling faint; more or less frequent urination; flu-like symptoms (fever, aches or chills); extreme tiredness or weakness in the muscles or joints; or an uneven heartrate or heart racing. It is very important that you seek medical attention if you experience chest pain after taking Lisinopril, or if you suddenly gain weight or have swelling in any part of your body.
Complications

Some medical conditions may cause complications or more severe reactions to Lisinopril. Do not take Lisinopril without telling your doctor if you suffer from kidney or liver disease. Also tell your doctor if you have a history of heart disease, heart failure, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis or lupus.
Warning

Do not drink alcohol while taking this medication. Alcohol may lower your blood pressure as well as increase your likelihood of experiencing side effects. It is important that you tell your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant before taking this medication, as Lisinopril may cause birth defects to occur.
