APO Metoprolol (Metoprolol Tartrate) is the brand name for a prescription medication used to treat angina (chest pain), high blood pressure and heart failure. APO Metoprolol is distributed in Canada by the pharmaceutical company Apotex, and in the United States by the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca (under the brand name Toprol XL). APO Metoprolol is also used as a treatment for the prevention of heart attack. Side effects such as dizziness, weakness, diarrhea and depression are not uncommon among users.-
Dosage

APO Metoprolol is prescribed as a tablet for oral ingestion. Depending on your condition, APO Metoprolol will be prescribed in 25 to 100 mg doses. Take APO APO Metoprolol exactly as prescribed and don't skip a dose. If you forget to take APO Metoprolol, take the forgotten dose as soon as you remember. Always take APO Metoprolol with a meal.

It is very important that you never take a double dose of APO Metoprolol, as it may cause an overdose. Symptoms of APO Metoprolol overdose include slow, uneven heartbeat, breathing difficulty (shortness of breath), bluish-colored fingernails, dizziness, nausea, fainting and lightheadedness.

Metoprolol Succinate ER is associated with less common side effects such as cold hands or feet, slow heartbeat, ankle or leg swelling and shortness of breath. Difficulty breathing or wheezing are also side effects of APO Metoprolol. Seek medical attention if you experience any side effects as a result of taking APO Metoprolol.

Some side effects associated with APO Metoprolol, although rare, are more severe. They include chest pain, back or joint pain, dark or bloody urine, hallucinations (seeing things that do not exist), an irregular heart rate, severe itchy or peeling skin rash, jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or skin). Notify your doctor immediately if you experience any severe side effect as a result of ingesting APO Metoprolol.

Do not stop taking APO Metoprolol without discussing it with your doctor first. Chest pain, heart attack or uneven heartbeats can occur as a result of stopping treatment. Take APO Metoprolol exactly as prescribed. Do not use alcohol while taking this medication.
