Who is at greatest risk for HIV transmission?
People who engage in unprotected sex with multiple partners are at the greatest risk for HIV transmission. Other high-risk behaviors include sharing needles or other drug paraphernalia, and receiving blood transfusions or organ donations from an infected person. Additionally, people who have certain medical conditions, such as sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or tuberculosis, are also at an increased risk of contracting HIV.
