Who is the most common victim of HIV?

There is no single most common victim of HIV; the virus can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or religion. However, it's important to recognise that certain segments of the population are disproportionately affected by HIV, and addressing these disparities is a key component of effective HIV prevention efforts. Vulnerable populations may include; men who have sex with men, women of colour, transgender people, sex workers, individuals from low socio-economic backgrounds, persons with disabilities, indigenous communities and in some locations young women and adolescent girls. It's critical to raise awareness, foster open dialogue reduce stigma and provide accessible resources to reach and support these communities as effectively as possible.
