How to Survive AIDS for Twenty Years
Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a disorder in which the body's defense mechanisms are impaired due to infection with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which damages T-cells, or lymphocytes. There is currently no cure for AIDS and more than 15 million people worldwide have died of AIDS complications. Improved medications offer hope, and life expectancies are rising for those with AIDS who take action to increase their survival and quality of life.Things You'll Need

Nutrients
-
1
Use higher than normal amounts of nutrients and use sublingual, liquid, suppository, transdermal, or injectable forms whenever possible. Poor absorption of nutrients is a common problem with AIDS. Start with a high potency multivitamin with minerals.
-
2
Take immune-boosing supplements such as: acetyl-L-carnitine, alpha-lipoic acid, bovine colostrum, coenzyme Q10, dimethylglycine (DMG), and a free-form amino acid complex. Add glutathione, lycopene, pycnogenol, and extra vitamin C with bioflavonoids. A probiotic combination with at least 1 million of acidopholus and bifidobacteria should be taken at least twice a day to fight the candida overgrowth.
-
3
Incorporate herbs into the diet. Aloe vera contains an HIV inhibitor. Dandelion and milk thistle aid the liver. Burdock and goldenseal have antiviral properties. Cat's claw enhances immune function. Spirulina, an algae, contains phytonutrients that may prevent the HIV virus from attaching to, or penetrating, cells. Avoid echinacea, which stimulates replication of T-cells and may multiply HIV.
-
4
Eat a diet of 75% to 100% raw vegetables, fruits, nuts, and seeds. Buy organic when possible. Cooking depletes food of vital enzymes. Sprouting seeds enhances their protein content and digestibility. Juicing is a method of supplying large amounts of nutrients. Green leafy vegetables should be consumed daily. Add greens to blended smoothies and use dehydrators on low settings to prepare foods without destroying enzymes.
-
5
Eliminate junk food. Soft drinks, colors, preservatives, empty calories consisting of sugar, fat, and refined flour use valuable energy and lower immune system reserves. Animal proteins should be limited to wild, caught, cold water fish that contain healthy fats.
Lifestyle
-
6
Get treatment for addictions. Drug addiction and alcoholism contribute to the spread of HIV. They also impair the body's ability to heal. Tobacco use reduces oxygen in the bloodstream and restricts circulation.
-
7
Get moving. Regular moderate exercise fights depression and helps the body handle stress. As little as walking 30 minutes, three times a week can make a difference. Yoga pairs flexibility with mental focus and breathing. Doing something enjoyable multiplies the benefits, as does having a partner in these activities.
-
8
Learn to meditate. While meditation can be learned from books, guided relaxations for healing are helpful; consider going to a meditation retreat to jump-start a new habit of introspection. Other forms of relaxation, such as massage, taking vacations, and participating in hobbies improve outlook and quality of life as well.
